A price book built from your real costs, so every quoted job carries the margin you meant it to.

  • Service mix strategy

Decide which work to chase (EV chargers, panels, generators, commercial service) by margin per crew-day, not by habit.

  • Hiring and capacity plans

  • Office systems and job costing

Dispatch, follow-up and job costing that let the shop run on a Tuesday without you on every call.

  • Marketing tied to margins

A marketing budget set by gross profit per job type, measured in booked work rather than clicks.

How it works

  1. Open the books on one month

Bring last month's invoices and job list. We sort the work by type and find where the gross profit actually came from, and where it leaked.

  2. Agree the plan in writing

Prices to change, work to chase, the next hire and the marketing budget, each with a number you can check in 90 days.

  3. Run it and review it monthly

We build the pieces you choose and review the scorecard with you every month. Call, text or email; you'll talk to a senior strategist.

Most electrical contracting owners in Canada are busy, and busy is not the same as profitable. A shop can run every truck five days a week and still finish the year with less than it expected, because a few common jobs are priced from memory, the schedule fills with low-margin calls, and the marketing brings in whatever happens to ring. ElectricianBusiness.ca works on that gap. We help owners price their work properly, choose which electrical services to grow, plan the next hire, put basic systems in the office, and then market the work that pays.

We are a business consulting and digital marketing service, not an electrical contractor. We don't wire, install, repair, inspect or certify anything. You hold the licence and do the work; we sit on the owner's side of the desk.

What we help electrical owners fix

The short answer: the five decisions that set your margin before a single job is booked. Each one has its own page, and most shops need two or three of them, not all five.

  • Pricing and flat-rate menus. A price book built from your real direct costs and overhead, so your techs quote the same price for the same job and the margin holds.
  • Service mix strategy. EV chargers, panel and service upgrades, standby generators, commercial service and everyday residential calls each earn a different gross profit per crew-day. We help you decide which to chase.
  • Hiring and capacity plans. When does the next electrician, apprentice or office person pay for themselves? We plan the role and the timing against your booked work.
  • Office systems and job costing. Dispatch, quote follow-up and job costing, so you know what each job made after it closed.
  • Marketing tied to margins. A budget set by what each job type earns, measured in booked jobs and gross profit.

A quick test of your own numbers

You can learn something from this page even if you never call. Take your three most common job types from last month and write down, for each, the average invoice, the materials and the hours on site.

Here is a worked example with round numbers. Say a 200-amp panel upgrade invoices at $4,200, and materials, permit fees and direct labour add up to $2,900. That leaves $1,300 of gross profit, about 31%. Now say a basic EV charger install invoices at $1,600 with $1,050 of direct cost: $550 of gross profit, about 34%, in roughly a third of the crew time. Per crew-day, the charger may earn more, even though the panel job looks bigger on the invoice.

That one comparison changes what you should advertise, which calls the office books first, and who you hire next. Use your own numbers; ours are only there to show the method. The service mix guide walks through it step by step.

Proof from our HVAC work

Our case studies come from home-service HVAC companies, and we present them as results from our HVAC work, not electrical results. They show the same method we use here: pick the profitable job type, build for it and measure it.

  • For CANRO Heat, we gave boiler work a brand of its own: GasBoilers.ca, a gas-boiler division that now reaches 26+ BC communities. That is the service-mix idea in practice.
  • HVACDeal.ca produced 500+ leads at a 12:1 ROI.
  • CombiBoiler.ca reached 300% ROI and 300+ monthly leads.

The results page explains what each one shows and what transfers to an electrical shop.

Across Canada

We work with electrical contracting owners in all 10 provinces and the three territories. The business looks different in each: Quebec's electric-heat market, Alberta's gas-heated suburbs with fast-growing charger demand, and the long, cold, remote North all change which services pay and when the busy season lands. Each province and territory page covers the local market, climate, regulator links and current energy programs, with dates.

How to start

Send a short text or email with your shop's name, your province and the one number that bothers you most: margin, backlog, call volume or turnover. We'll come back with a time to talk, in person, by video call or by phone. The contact page explains what to include and what happens next, and the FAQ answers the usual questions about contracts and ownership.

Frequently asked questions

Are you an electrical contractor?

No. ElectricianBusiness.ca is a business consulting and digital marketing service for electrical contracting owners. We don't install, repair, inspect or service anything, and we don't pull permits. Licensed contractors do the work; we help them run a more profitable company.

How is this different from a marketing agency?

Most agencies start with ads. We start with your price book and job mix, because marketing a job that loses money only loses it faster. The marketing comes after, sized to the margin each job type can carry.

Do you work with small shops?

Yes. Owner-operators with one or two vans often get the most from pricing and service-mix work, since a few corrected prices change the whole year. Larger shops tend to need hiring plans and office systems as well.

What does it cost?

Trades.Agency plans start at $1,999 a month on month-to-month terms, or $1,499 a month on annual billing, plus GST/HST based on your province (GST and QST in Quebec). The first consultation is free.

Can we meet in person?

Yes. We meet in person or online by video call, and we also work by phone, text and email. A short text to (604) 632-4959 is a fine way to start.

Will you promise a revenue increase?

No. Nobody honest can. We commit to the work, the reporting and a straight read on what the numbers say, and you decide what to change.
