These are the questions owners of electrical contracting companies ask most often before they work with us. The answers are short on purpose; each links to a page with more detail.
One point runs through all of them. ElectricianBusiness.ca is a business consulting and digital marketing service. We are not an electrical contractor, we don't do or supervise electrical work, and we don't interpret electrical codes or regulators' rules.
Frequently asked questions
What does ElectricianBusiness.ca actually do?
We help owners of electrical contracting companies with pricing and flat-rate menus, service mix, hiring and capacity plans, office systems and job costing, and marketing tied to margins. It is business consulting and digital marketing, not electrical work.
Are you licensed electricians?
No, and we don't need to be for this work. We don't install, repair, inspect or service anything. Your licensed team does all electrical work and remains responsible for code, permits and safety.
How much does it cost?
Trades.Agency plans start at $1,999 a month month to month, or $1,499 a month billed annually, plus GST/HST based on your province (GST and QST in Quebec). The pricing page shows all three plans.
Do I have to sign a long contract?
No. There is no long-term commitment: you can stay month to month and stop with 30 days' notice.
How long before we see a difference?
Price changes show in margin within one or two billing cycles. Office-system fixes such as quote follow-up often show within a month. Marketing changes usually take two to four months to read clearly.
We tried an agency before and it didn't work. Why would this be different?
Ask what the last agency measured. If it reported clicks and calls, nobody could tell whether the work paid. We start with your prices and margins and report booked jobs and gross profit, so you can judge us on the same numbers you run the shop on.
Who owns the website, domain and ad accounts?
Ownership of the website, domain, Google Business Profile and ad accounts is set out in writing in your proposal before you sign. Read that clause first and ask about anything unclear.
What reports will I get?
A one-page monthly scorecard: booked work by job type, gross margin on menu jobs, quote close rate, cost per booked job by channel, and backlog. We review it with you each month.
Can you promise results?
No. Nobody can honestly promise leads, rankings or revenue. We commit to the work, the measurement and a straight answer about what the numbers show.
Will you tell us what to pay our electricians?
No. We don't give wage or compensation advice. Our hiring plans show how much gross profit a role must support; you set pay with your own advisers.
Do you work with commercial and industrial shops?
Yes, especially on service mix, capacity planning and job costing. Bid-based project work keeps its own estimating process; we help with the business systems around it.
Can we meet in person?
Yes. We meet in person or online by video call, and we also work by phone, text and email. Texting (604) 632-4959 is a fine way to start.
Can you help us prepare the business for sale one day?
The work we do, documented prices, systems and steady margins, tends to make a business easier to value. For the sale itself, the group's exit brand is BizSell.ca, and we don't give securities or legal advice.
Price and contracts
The short answer: plans start at $1,999 a month, or $1,499 a month billed annually, with no long-term contract.
Plans come from Trades.Agency, our family's parent site, and run month to month with 30 days' notice to cancel. GST/HST is added based on your province, or GST and QST in Quebec. The pricing page lists all three plans, what drives the cost, and a worked check for testing any plan against your own margin.
Anything beyond the plan fee, such as ad spend or one-time work, is written into your proposal before you sign.
What we do and don't do
We work on five things: pricing, service mix, hiring plans, office systems and marketing tied to margins.
We don't:
- perform, supervise, inspect or certify electrical work
- interpret provincial electrical regulations or codes
- give wage, employment, legal or tax advice
- place workers or act as a staffing agency
- promise leads, rankings or revenue
When a question belongs to your regulator, accountant, lawyer or HR adviser, we say so and stay out of it.
Timelines and results
Most owners see the first effects from pricing and quote follow-up, because those touch jobs you already have. A typical sequence:
- Weeks 1–6: price book and service-mix review.
- Weeks 6–10: office flow, job costing and a capacity forecast.
- Month 3 onward: marketing for the chosen services, reviewed monthly.
Our published case studies are results from our HVAC work, presented as HVAC results. They show the method, not a forecast for your shop.
Ownership and reporting
You should own your business assets. The ownership terms for the website, domain, Google Business Profile and ad accounts are written into your proposal, and you should read them before you sign.
Reporting is one page a month, reviewed together. The weekly scorecard guide shows the numbers we track and how to read them, even if you never hire us.
When we're not the right fit
Being honest about fit saves both of us time. We're probably not the right choice if:
- you want a lead supplier that sells shared leads by the piece
- you need electrical estimating, design or code review
- you want someone to recruit and employ workers for you
- you need financial statements, payroll or tax filings
In those cases we'll say so in the first conversation and, where we can, tell you what kind of provider to look for. For hands-on electrical lead generation and recruiting campaigns, our sister site ElectricalTeam.ca may suit you better.
How decisions get made
You make them. We bring the analysis, the options and a recommendation, written down with the numbers behind it. You decide what to change in your prices, your mix, your hiring and your marketing, and we carry out the parts you hand to us. If you disagree with a recommendation, we record that and track the result either way; the data settles most arguments within a quarter.
If a recommendation doesn't work, we say so plainly and change course, rather than defending it.
Getting started
Send a short text or email with your company name, province and the problem you most want solved. We meet in person or by video call, and the first 30-minute consultation is free. See the contact page for what to include, or read about us first.
